Tom’s research on the importance of oral health and its interplay with whole-body health won him a prize from the British Society of Gerodontology. In 2020, he was awarded the national GDP Prize for endodontics from the British Endodontic Society, and in 2024 he was awarded their Outstanding Clinical Case prize.
What is Root Canal Treatment?
Root canal treatment is a dental procedure that saves a severely infected, decayed, or damaged tooth. The dentist numbs the area, removes the sick inner nerve pulp, cleans and shapes the root canals, and then seals the space to stop pain and future infection. A root canal procedure should not be painful. The success of this treatment is highly dependent on the expertise of the dentist.
